High Priest Group 1st Assistant
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the High Priest Group Leader, preside over, sit in council with, and teach group members. Direct efforts of the group to advance the work of salvation in the ward. Specific responsibilities of the High Priest Group Leader include:
- Serve on ward priesthood executive committee and ward council
- Coordinate the ward council efforts to encourage temple and family history work
- Teach other leaders and teachers in the group their duties
- In consultation with the bishop, recommend brethren to be called to serve as assistants in the high priest group leadership
- Submit recommendations to the bishop for brethren to serve as secretaries and instructor
- Oversee the records, reports, budget, and finances of the group
- Encourage group members to fulfill their priesthood duties, especially their duties as husbands and fathers
- Organize and oversee home teaching
- Oversee efforts to improve gospel learning and teaching in high priests group
- Under direction of the bishop, plan ways to address welfare needs in the group
- Help prospective elders prepare to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood
- Plan activities for the members of the group
- Work with parents and young men leaders to help 18-year-old young men prepare to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood
